It's Fall 2021 and we are just about to release our favorite winter WATERPROOF WOOL coat collection. This season is a little bit different in that we have added recycled wool to our offering of environmentally friendly features. This is in addition to our last season's new development of upgrading the wool insulated styles to a poly plant-based material, insulation made of corn! How cool is that? Using natural fabric content plus sustainable and recycled fabrics and materials continue to be a present and future priority. We strive to reduce wasteful consumption in our product creation and upcycle natural and existing resources as much as possible.
MIA MELON HAILEY INSULATED COAT
Let's examine what makes our fabrics so special. Laminated to our wool blend street fabrics (35% recycled wool, 65% viscose), the waterproof-breathable membrane is the secret to the coats performance. The thermal membrane is windproof, waterproof and breathable and will deflect heat back towards your body creating a warm interior. This allows for less material and bulk to accomplish the same amount of warmth compared to normal coats and puffy insulated styles.
High-tech Sorona insulation is an innovative coat and jacket insulation made out of fibers that simulate goose and duck down. It is light, compact and warm. Unlike real down, it performs much better when wet. Our satin diamond quilted insulated lining is a new polyester microfiber made of 37% plant-based component (corn glucose). It is soft next to the skin, quick drying and moisture wicking, a durable and new alternative to bird feather down.
The content of the new recycled wool blend fabric is 35% recycled wool, 65% viscose. Viscose is a semi-synthetic type of rayon fabric made from wood pulp that is used as a silk substitute. It has a similar drape, smooth and soft feel to the luxury material. The cleaning instructions for our wool and cotton coats is machine wash on delicate cycle - cold water with mild detergent, hang dry. Spot cleaning with cold water/ mild detergent is also recommended as an alternative to washing the whole coat. Do not dry clean.
The membrane is also a wind barrier, keeping the chill out. This high tech membrane will always keep you warm and dry in the snow, wind, rain and the elements. DWR stands for durable water repellency and we also apply this treatment to the outside of the coat. This invisible feature helps the water bead off instead of penetrating the fabric as a second waterproofing element.
MIA MELON DANA INSULATED TOGGLE COAT
Are you travel ready? Consider an insulated wool coat like the new DANA insulated toggle coat or the very popular HAILEY insulated wool coat for colder climates. The KENDRA wool coat and the classic belted LEXI coat are both lined with micro-fleece. These 3 layer bonded styles are not bulky and are also very warm.
We believe in the art of technical and timeless fashion combined with engineered fit for real bodies - all shapes and sizes to be contoured and figure flattering. We have perfected our fit and increased our offering to extended sizes XXS-3X. The feedback from our plus size program has been very positive and going strong for three years.
